Metaplanet Becomes Asia’s Biggest Bitcoin Holder with Latest Buy
Japan-based Metaplanet acquired an additional 156.78 BTC, now holding over 1,000 BTC.
Japan’s Metaplanet is going all in on Bitcoin. Recently, they bought another 156.78 BTC for $10.4 million, pushing their total to 1,018.17 BTC, currently valued at a whopping $68.8 million. This makes them Asia’s largest Bitcoin holder, beating out Hong Kong-based Meitu Inc.
Since deciding to make Bitcoin a core reserve in May, Metaplanet has been stacking sats fast, with most of its buys happening in October alone. The impact? Their stock price jumped 7% this month, showing investors are definitely on board with the crypto-first approach.
Metaplanet even tracks their Bitcoin gains through a new metric, “BTC Yield,” inspired by MicroStrategy, to keep shareholders in the loop on how each BTC impacts their investment value.
